Information Systems & Service Associate



The Information Systems & Service Associate provides superior customer service and accurate information to students, faculty, staff, and visitors to OSAF regarding on and off campus activities, services, and resources that the office provides or hosts. Additionally, the Information Systems & Service Associate provides insight into and excellent work with OSAF information systems (DukeGroups, email listservs, and other technical communication tools). This position is work-study eligible.

Responsibilities: 
  • Staff the front (reception) desk of OSAF during evening hours
  • Be a resource for office visitors after professional staff business hours
  • Represent Duke University, the Bryan Center, and the Office of Student Activities and Facilities in a positive and professional manner
  • Greet and assist customers in a courteous, tactful and informative manner
  • Stay informed and aware of updated information at all times; be willing to locate information to meet customer needs
  • Assist in the upkeep of database and technical communications systems including DukeGroups.com
  • Execution of various technology-oriented projects to be determined by collaboration with supervisor
  • Monitor security of OSAF office facilities and resources
  • Attend 1-on-1 meetings with supervisor
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • High level of dependability and a developed value of maturity
  • Eagerness to learn technical communication software and applications
  • Familiarity with Duke University offices, services, and administrators
  • Ability to relate to and assist all members of the campus community
  • Desire to excel at customer service in a team-oriented environment
  • Strong oral communications skills
  • Ability to work at least 10 hours each week while school is in session
  • Ability to work independently to identify resources and to make independent decisions
  • Positive attitude and professional image
  • Problem solving and conflict management skills
  • Ability to work well and quickly under pressure
  • Quality computer and telephone skills are essential
