Student Affairs Distinguished Leadership and Service Awards
The Student Affairs Distinguished Leadership and Service Awards honor graduating students whose contributions to the Duke and larger communities are grounded in values that support the University’s mission as found in Duke’s Guiding Principles and the Duke Community Standard. Students who have demonstrated leadership in their curricular and co-curricular endeavors will be eligible for these awards. The award categories are: respect, diversity, integrity, learning, and teamwork. Students should be nominated for a specific principle, but can be nominated for multiple awards.

The recipient will be a student whose influence and achievement in curricular and co-curricular endeavors have demonstrated respect for the individual and the entire Duke community.
Commitment to Diversity (Diversity)
The recipient will be a student who has committed his or her University experience to bringing recognition and appreciation of the myriad of distinct and extraordinary perspectives of Duke community members.
Demonstration of Integrity (Trustworthiness)
The recipient will be a student whose influence and achievements have embodied the highest ideals of character, honor and integrity.

William J. Griffith University Service Award
The William J. Griffith University Service Award will be presented to a select number of graduating students whose contributions to the Duke and larger communities have significantly impacted University life. Students whose efforts demonstrate an understanding of the responsibilities of effective university, communal and global citizenship are eligible for this award.
Any Duke undergraduate, graduate, or professional student (graduating September 2006, December 2006 or May 2007) is eligible for both awards. Students may be recognized for participation in off-campus as well as on-campus activities.
To recognize deserving students, submit a letter of nomination outlining the nominee’s pertinent accomplishments, citing one or two examples, and the way in which he or she has made an impact on life at Duke. Specific language should be used to distinguish nominations for the Griffith or Distinguished Leadership and Service awards. All nominees will receive a copy of the nomination letter.
All nominations are due March 9, 2007, to:
